In my business the length of waiting time was influenced by demand in their area
Robert- Thanks for your post, it hits on something that quite a few people are overlooking about the roll out of ATHM. That they need to do the rollout efficiently to maximize their resources.
I've been waiting for the service for almost a year. My area, greater Baltimore, was actually one of the first areas to have the service. I happen to live in a more rural pocket that is just far enough away from any kind of density to make it attractive economically.
The last time I talked to ATHM service, (I call once a to see what the holdup was, since my area was on the map month, just to chat) the service rep was really keen to try for third Q 1999.
The problem is there isn't a node placed near enough to me for my address to be serviceable. The rep and I started to sift through her data base street by street to see if there were enough "want the service" people for me to call Comcast and light a fire under them. (I have somebody's direct line and I'm not afraid to use it) I asked, "Just tell me how many people I gotta sign up on my street, I'll get them" She said, "I don't want to get anybody in trouble, but you have to go to Comcast on this."
This was last months call. I'm gearing up for this month. I can appreciate that they need to make the rollout efficient, it's just hell to be stuck just a mile away from BB paradise. |
