Eric, you, as a relatively recent Saviour to this thread, Dec 6, 1996 to be exact, I can assure you that Mr. Petrulis had many many other naysayers, contrary opinions and Financial Planners to heed and curb his greed.
I personally am skeptical of both your recent appearance on this thread and your Saviour complex.
Now, all who have been on this thread longer than you, know of Mr. Petrulis' particularly distasteful personal attack on me, my credibility and his conjecture that since one of us on this ID, ME, is a strong feminine type, therefore I must be a lesbian. This is vintage Petrulis, and not exactly the loveable side of the man.
Furthermore, back at his height of Stock Acquisition, he was calling me at all hours of the day and night for 2 solid weeks trying to ferret out God knows what out of me. Then he decided on the basis of my unreachability that I only owned a couple hundred shares, which was also untrue, and felt the need to spread that same untruth on this thread as well.
I talked to the Rich thrice before I started refusing his calls, because he was obsessing, and I don't need craziness in my life. Plus, I don't have a compulsion to "save anyone" from themselves.
We also know of his public drunkeness on this thread.
But let's be consistent here, shall we? IF we were to take apart every little nuance of this Dow Jones Article that Nugget posted with the same fervor some exhibit taking apart every word placement anything in the press re: Bre-X, one would find many many things behind the words or between the lines of the opening 2 paragraphs of that Dow Jones story re: our own colorful Pet Rock Petrulis:
A: Dow story did NOT tell how many of those shares were inherited shares at no cost to Mr. Petrulis. He has admitted same inheritance on this very thread!
B: The story tells of a loss, yes, Pet Rock's association w/Botts, who is already suing in his behalf for not only losses but pain and suffering as well, which is a contingency fee activity: Botts & Baker don't get paid until the Pet Rocks of this class get paid. Therefore, there is no out of pocket expenses paid up front by Pet Rock for his participation in this class, just a sharing in the proceeds, which, granted, will be far down the road and not immediate. How many broken down, homeless folks do you or I know that have no cost upfront legal representation already working hard for them?
C: The story mentions taxes owing of some $200K. Now, pardon me all to hell, but doesn't someone have to MAKE a considerable amount of money in order to OWE a considerable amount of money? We have no idea how long this $200K in taxes has been owed! So, what's Pet Rock doing that is making that kind of money? Can he still "do it," i.e., make that kind of money? If so, why piddle w/the Bre-X's of this world. If not, what has changed that he is not still so gainfully employed?
D: Ah HA! The Dow answer's one of those questions: Our Pet Rock is s a California Contractor! Now, pardon me for being so dense, but if he lives on the street, doesn't he still have his little black book of sub contractors? Doesn't he still have a skill or a trade? Doesn't he still have projects still underway, that haven't received all the progress payments due and collectible upon various stages of completion? And can't he nail a couple of boards together, apply some pipe compound and plumb a john, and wire a shanty for a refigerator and one bare lightbulb?
E: As for having to sell his home in Oakland? Well, yuckers. None of us wants to move, that's a horrid contemplation for all but the trailer home set amongst us. But, guess what: This guy has a wife and a dog, so I'm willing t'bet they'll live somewhere besides the street. I believe Pet Rock hasn't popped up on here and claimed his wife is leaving him. If he was in that kind of trouble, she either must love him t'death, or she'd be in the boogey mode to get her share of the "leftovers," or she isn't too smart either.
I hope I've made my point. Walter will be p/o'ed at me again, tis true. And some of you may join in, including our resident know it all, Wild Bilge, and even ole' imitation Saviour #2, Cliffy-pooh-on- him-&Kin,-too.
And I haven't made Pet Rock Points from Petrulis. But, guess what? I don't care. The Dow Jones doesn't get all the facts either. They are trying to sell newspapers, and Pet Rock just helped 'em sensationalize his story by not telling them everything when they interviewed him either!
So, let's either rip apart all the news media reporting on this thread or not rip apart any of them.
Jist because Rich has lost FREE Bre-X inherited shares, taxes owing, credit card debt,(who doesn't?) a wife, a dog, a car, a phone, a computer (which is still hooked into SI), and a home in Oakland, doesn't mean his brand of greed is special.
And guess what, Eric. When you get right down to it, you, Sir, are in the business of catering to greed. That makes you a Greed Pimp not a Financial Planner or a Saviour.
Good luck in your line of work. By the time you showed up on this thread with all your sagacity and perspicacity, many were long gone and there is no one left to save.
I wish you much success on the GPGI thread, the CKS thread, the CTQ thread, and about 4000 other Canadian, Australian and Pink Sheet stocks threads out here on the World Wide Web.
I hear there are wallets overthere that still have money in them!
Sheesh, talk about feeding frenzy...
