Hong Kong stocks seen up on strong Q3 GDP growth

HONG KONG, Nov 29 (Reuters) - Hong Kong stocks are expected to rise on Monday
ahead of the expiry of November index futures and after the local economy showed a
stronger than expected rebound in the third quarter.

The government announced on Friday that Hong Kong's gross domestic product (GDP)
grew 4.5 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 1999, well above analysts' forecasts of
between two to four percent.

It also revised its full-year 1999 GDP forecast to 1.8 percent growth from its earlier 0.5 percent estimate. ''The GDP figure
was better than expected, which could push the main index to 15,500 points,'' said Ben Kwong, associate director at KGI Asia
Ltd.
