CD-RW vs. Zip,

From the TMF board, another interesting Zip usage story. An excerpt from the bottom of post:

The only way I could ever lose my important stuff is if there were a fire in my house when I'm not home to throw my removable HDDs and my Zips out the window as I flee (I take a copy of my most up-to-date Zip--and my passport with me when I travel, too, especially since the recent earthquakes here). Oh, I suppose I could lose it all if the Earth suddenly reversed its magnetic polarity (don't laugh; could happen, but data-loss would not be a worry). COD? Naw, it'd have to hit me big-time on the same day my HDD failed; not likely. HDD failures? Oh, I'd be out a coupla hunnert bucks and some installation-time, but I'd have all my stuff. Losing all my stuff to some unforseen Y2K snafu? Snowball's chance in Taiwan, mon. I have such confidence in my storage system--not least because my Zip is so easy to use. Replace this system with a CD-RW? Show me how it's better.
