Greetings All! I observed something very interesting today in class. First, I'll give you some background information. Of the 24 students in my room, 17 are connected to the Internet at home (around 70%). That is somewhat higher than the nation average. Isn't it around 50% now? I can't remember. Anyway, I asked earlier in the year if anyone was connected to @Home. At that time, no one was.

This morning, I announced to the students that I had finished putting together a class web page. They will go to this site for homework, calendar of events, upcoming projects, and much much more. While discussing this site, a boy said his house now had AT&T@Home. I asked the rest of the group if anyone else did. Eight hands rose! That was nearly 50% of the online group! Wow! Three knew for sure that they had dumped AOL. A few others were taking advantage of the AOL piggyback until the end of '99.

I believe it was Darla who asked me earlier in the fall how many of my students had @Home. Well, the number is rising! @Home is making an impact in my area!:0)
