FWIW, in my book this is not bad news at all. IMHO, the decision to put the cache outside was smart. They would be shipping far fewer Athlons had they put the cache on die. And, they were smart enough to go to multipliers like 2.5 to ensure a smooth progression.

Of course, once Fab30 comes online, the capacity issues will be mitigated and built-in cache becomes a lot more practical.
