It is pretty amazing to me that anyone can even suggest that Athlon core would lag behind Coppermine in performance scalability. From all indications, AMD is probably not yielding anything below 700MHz and Intel is not yielding anything above 750MHz on their respective 180nm processes.

It may not be obvious yet but I do not particularly believe there is a contest here.
