KBRO telecommunications equipment analyst Barry Sine told Reuters.

``Now you're going to have Redback's access software and Siara's backbone traffic to manage your traffic
from end to end,' he said.

Siara's equipment will manage different types of older communications and translate it into forms for sending
and prioritizing new generations of communications -- faster, better quality voice, data and video.

``With the technology boost provided by Siara, we expect Redback to be able to maintain its dominance in the
DSL sector and begin to translate this success in the cable, fiber and wireless broadband worlds,' Sine wrote
in a research report.

Sine said the Siara acquisition should maintain its technology lead in an increasingly crowded field with new
entrants such as the Shasta subsidiary of Nortel Networks Corp. (Toronto:NT.TO - news), and Cisco Systems
Inc.'s (NasdaqNM:CSCO - news) August purchase of Cerent Corp.

He reiterated a strong buy rating for Redback and a 12-month target price of $200. Sine said he expects the
deal to cut Redback's earnings in the near term and add to earnings from 2001 and onward. Redback, which
was founded in 1996 and went public in May, has never turned a profit.

Sine said he expects Siara will beef up Redback's weaker hardware sector. Siara's also brings Redback two
of chip makerdesigner heavyweights David Stiles and Greg Favor, formerly of Advanced Micro Devices Inc.
(NYSE:AMD - news).
