CSCO going to announce some new wireless technology Wednesday that may depress COMS temporarily: In the networking space, Cisco Systems (CSCO: news, msgs) gained 1 11/16 to 94 7/8. The networking giant is expected to unveil a new approach to wireless communications in a meeting with analysts and reporters on Wednesday, according to The New York Times. The new, "nonmobile" service will provide voice telephone and Internet access and be available next year, the report said. Lucent Technologies (LU: news, msgs) lost 3/8 to 77 1/8, and 3Com (COMS: news, msgs) slipped 3/8 to 42 7/8.
