Their networking business is still suspect. Without PALM this will become a the greater focus.

When you continue to make these statements you are coming off as a person that works within a traditional competitor of 3Com.

Why can't I own 3Com/Palm and look at new R&D and new product initiatives and new businesses, e.g. Palm and supporting infrastructure?

When I first started looking at 3Com it was as a competitor to Ascend. (as a shareholder not employee) I'm sure you remember they were in their bloody death fight over the 56K modem standard and more importantly controlling the access platform. Of course I was rooting for Ascend's ultimate success, though extremely bloody for both co's. My point is that after seeing that battle, and the subsequent USRX channel stuffing, I saw many businesses that were absolutely undervalued by the Street, including Palm.

Obviously, the Palm business is being recognized because of management focus, investments and the current spin-off. But I think you are wrong to think that all these other businesses deserve to be valued at historically low valuations as compared to any other competitor.

No they are not Cisco, but who is :-)

I understand that Cisco is looking at all sectors and is going to try and compete in all sectors but only a competitor would continually say "ignore everything good about what management has done, but boy look at how bad that traditional router/switch/NIC/modem prospects are"

Try looking at 3Com as an investment, and not a competitor. It will change the way you view it.
