Gary, why do you continue to avoid the question about who made the Palm supreme. I will tell you why, because I have pinned you down with a legitimate question that has you confounded. You know very well that if it were not for 3Com's mgmt. the Palm would have been just another failure like those that came before it. I think there were only a few companies that could have pulled it off, one of which was 3Com. EB had the prescience to see that we were in a transition from a PC-Centric to a Net-Centric world, for this reason he put enormous resources into making the Palm a success. In the meantime Cisco put emphasis on the Core with its' routers. Round one was obviously one by Cisco, but as technology evolves it will be interesting to see if EB's theory of "intelligence at the edge" is were the future growth will be concentrated. Once the information Highways are built, it will be the intelligent devises on the edge that will manifest most of the growth. It is here that I see 3Com's diversity and strength, hence growth.

A good analogy would be to look at which companies prevailed after our national Highways were built, GM,FORD,Exxon,Chevron etc. These companies have ruled the better part of corporate America for most of the last century by providing the fuel and devises that allow us to roam the national highways. The companies that built the highways are practically non existant.
