MA, I think Gary is saying that Palm has beaten CE. He is not convinced that COMS management has done a good job growing the rest of the core business, even though COMS has tightened up the cost structure. I don't think Gary is implying that COMS has done a bad job of growing Palm. As matter of fact, Gary has mentioned that he is also waiting for the Palm spin-off.
Judging from COMS' performance in the last qtr, I don't think the management has grown the business very well either. I am waiting for the Palm's spin off, and hope for a buyout for the COMS shares. This slow growth is mostly attributed to Cisco's success. But your note implying once the internet structure is built, Cisco may slow down analogy is short sighted. I don't think the superhighway will ever reach the point where it is "built", it will be a continuous process of building, refinement, and rebuilding. Your statement is like saying that once Windows 2000 is out, Microsoft will be out of business because there is no need for OS upgrade. As for the edge growth, I hope you are right, but so far it is not growing like a very thriving part of COMS business.(check the financials and you will see) |
