Lucent SiGe for Network Transport & Wireless Communications lucent.com "This process will enable us to build world-class optical interface ICs at OC192/STM64 and above while paving the way for system-on-a-chip integration with our SONET/SDH digital devices." -- Greg Waters, Lucent The 10 gbps transceiver will be a counterpart to Nortel's OC-192 product which includes a GaAs IC for which Kopin is a wafer source (I presume): nortelnetworks.com It looks like SiGe and GaAs HBT will be facing off sooner than expected. We'll find out which one is the more disruptive technology. It will be interesting to see which wireless applications Lucent goes after. They say nothing more specific than "10 GHz and above" in the press release. WT
