John --

Based on this information, when would you expect to see RFPs for subcontracts? Or will there be any? I know Alcatel got the contract from the JPC, but don't know how these things work beyond that.

It being a slow day, I made a few phone calls based on a Reuters article I'd seen on April 9 that said BT would be demonstrating VOD in a special presentation for vendors/clients at Ipswich, Suffolk, England. A DSL guy in their London office told me they were using Nortel's equipment and that they, in turn, were using Amati's DMT, but he didn't know which Overture. Whichever it was, they had to modify it to 2Mbps for the UK. This does not indicate Amati has any contract with Nortel, it simply means given a choice between Westell's CAP (their partner) and Amati's DMT, they preferred the latter. I called Amati to confirm and was told Nortel had purchased the equipment and could use it anywhere they wanted.

I'm beginning to remind myself of the Iomega guys when they posted every Zip they spotted no matter how few or how obscure.

Cheers!

Pat

P.S. MSFT just announced earnings: estimate: .64, whisper: .68; actual: .79. Tomorrow could be a fun day.
