OK, that does it. If that article is legit, salting by Bre-X definitely is not the reason for the assay descrepancies. So, what the hell happened wth FCX's assay results? It seems that (a) they screwed up deliberately (b) they screwed up accidentally, or (c) somebody tampered with them, meaning their security was lousy (either intentionally or not. If they acted inentionally, then FCX's officers and directors will be vulnerable to criminal charges of market manipulation. If they acted accidentally, FCX will be a laughingstock and possibly kicked out of Busang for the same reasons Bre-X would if it screwed up.
Q: if Bre-X is vindicated and FCX is made the goat, does anybody think the Indos will feel badly about what happened to Bre-X and give them a larger share of Busang? This might help defuse some of the highly negative sentiment felt by many (including me) against the Indos.
