Kurt,

IMO, a low due to tax-related selling usually occurs in October, November, and/or December. In October, mutual funds sell to offset gains to end their fiscal year, and people sell to avoid a "dark Friday". In November, individuals sell to offset gains and hope to buy back before year-end to avoid a wash sale. In December, individuals also sell to offset gains. I myself reserve a lot of capital to buy stocks when they drop in these months. I bought 500 XRX's last week and I'm looking to double my XRX position by year end. It seems to me a low in December is less likely as compared to October and November because of the support from year-end buying.
