"Rare Metal Assays Look Good at Pakeagama Lake"

THE DAILY MINING NEWS for Nov 30, 1999, from the
editorial desk of The Prospector:

NORTH AMERICA

*****Rare Metal Assays Look Good at Pakeagama Lake

Houston Lake Mining (HLM:ASE) reported that economically significant assays of tantalum, cesium, rubidium, beryllium, lithium and germanium were returned from nineteen channel samples and five bulk samples taken from the Pakeagama Lake rare metals property in Ontario. According to the company, the samples returned average values of 280 grams per tonne (g/t )tantalum oxide, 4,642 g/t rubidium oxide, 817 g/t cesium oxide, 366.4 g/t beryllium oxide and 124 g/t tin.

The Wall zone was outlined as being at least 13.0 m wide with a strike length of 40.0 m, remaining open both directions. A 2.0 kg bulk sample previously taken by the Ontario Geological Survey (OGS) from the zone reportedly returned economically significant results of 380 g/t tantalum oxide, 1.0% rubidium oxide and 1.93% lithium oxide. Eleven continuous 1.0 channel samples tested the Wall zone and returned average values of 285 g/t tantalum oxide, 5,401 rubidium oxide, 913 g/t cesium oxide, 600 g/t beryllium oxide and 108 g/t tin, including seven samples averaging 358 g/t tantalum oxide, 5,710 rubidium oxide, 986 g/at cesium oxide, 619 g/t beryllium oxide and 109 g/t tin.

Other samples focussed on the montebrasite-lepidolite-quartz replacement unit, aplite dykes and the Wall zone. The company says the values indicated that late stage mineralising events displayed by the Pakeagama Lake pegmatite have considerable exploration potential for rare metals. Highlights from the samples include 620 g/t and 576 g/t tantalum oxide, 10,285 g/t and 8,777 g/t rubidium oxide, 2,989 g/t cesium oxide, 270 g/t beryllium oxide and 404 g/t tin.

The company says that a $500,000 exploration program was recommended that would involve line-cutting, geophysics, soil and litho-geochemistry, geological mapping and diamond drilling, and would be carried out by the summer of 2000. (Nov 29/99)
