Alantra Venture Corp - Alantra sells VIPSatNet system to Teck Alantra Venture Corp AVB Shares issued 3,635,841 1999-11-26 close $0.67 Monday Nov 29 1999 Mr. John McCleery reports Alantra has sold and installed the VIPSatNet communication solution to Teck Corporation for use at the Pogo mining operation in Alaska. Teck employee, Jack Demarchi, states, "This system has delivered as promised and we are extremely happy." Teck had tried several systems before, all of which did not meet expectations. The Teleport system delivers voice data, fax, Internet and video conferencing at cable speeds over satellite. The company is very pleased to solve Teck's communication problems and it is anticipated further sales should result from this successful solution. Remote, extreme locations such as Alaska are an excellent example of the effectiveness of the company's solution. The company anticipates announcing additional sales to other customers in the near future. Alantra Venture owns 51 per cent of Vancouver Teleport Ltd., the operators of the VIPSatNet. The VIPSatNet uses the latest Internet technologies to combine voice, long-distance, video conferencing, private data communications and T1 (1.544 mbps) bandwidth Internet access. Vancouver Teleport is the owner and operator of the new satellite communications network. VIPSatNet is a system which provides broadband Internet-based satellite communication solutions. |
