Hi Carolyn.
It doesn't always pay to be a night owl.
Last night I had the most frightening experience
driving home from work.

Sometime after I exited the freeway,
I noticed that a car was following me.
The route to my house is not one that through traffic
would normally traverse. This car continued behind me
until I turned off onto the road leading to my street.
The road is a two lane. First I was in the right lane with the car behind me and then I moved to the left. He followed.
I continued past my street and made an abrupt turn to the left into a different neighborhood full of winding streets.
He followed as I lead him on a chase through these streets until I finally returned to the main road and began to retrace my steps back down the hill. At the one stoplight
I stopped in the left lane, though the light was green, to see what he would do. He pulled up and stopped right beside me. I then grabbed my cell phone, dialed 911 and sped down the hill towards the gas station, which naturally was closed.

I guess he must have seen me on the phone since he continued past the gas station and went away.

I hurried home with one eye on the rear view mirror.

A large glass of scotch and a kind friend who held my hand
telephonically kept me from totally giving in to hysteria.
Unfortunately Mr. United was travelling.

It's a hell of a world. I'm normally quite without fear,
but this kind of thing really gets to me.

Wah.
