The results of the long-awaited N-9 study of women in Cameroon was released on April 3, 1997. A two-year study to determine whether vaginal contraceptive film containing spermicide used with condoms prevents the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) has concluded that the spermicidal film is safe to use but does not confer any additional protection to women from HIV, gonorrhea or chlamydia infection beyond the protection provided by condoms. Unfortunately, the news is not good for women...
