I may pick up the book. There are some comparisons of now to the 20's that equate, but there are also some failsafes in place now that didn't exist then.

1) LAWS- Markets are much more regulated now than they were in the 20's. Some of the stock sold in the 20's were more than euphemistically over-priced they were just plain worthless.

2) Computer systems- are here now and can quickly react to a freefall situation. The markets could be closed to let things cool off. Some will lose a lot, but I think were more safe from having the wheel fall off (like the 20's).

I guess my belief is that the market could drop a lot, stop the fall (either manually or mechanically) and stabilize. Could the fall be huge, sure. It is good to review the history of the 20's to help avoid making the same mistakes. Is this book a prophesy or just sensational journalism in a hard cover? Can't tell until I read it.

Either of the authors ever claim to be abducted by aliens, work on Ross Perot's presidential campaign, or ghost write for Oliver Stone?

Remember- You can get Sofa from the couch that you can't sit on the cushions.
