My understanding of Intellisync is that it is synchronization technology for specific PC desktop applications (Outlook, ACT, Goldmine, etc.) and hand held devices based on PalmOS or CE. I am not familiar with xtended systems and could not locate any information on them.
eSNAPP is different in that it is not an application itself, but it is middleware that enables enterprise database connectivity from applications running on hand held devices. Today we have a WinCE client and we are scheduling the PalmOS client for Q1. Other platforms to follow next year.
With eSNAPP, an application developer, using Visual C++ or Visual Basic for WinCE in this example, could build an application that connects to an Oracle, MS SQL Server, Informix, SQLBase, Sybase, etc. database and work directly with the data through the eSNAPP server. This provides a different architectual solution that is really required for some types of applications that need to work with data in real time.
So we see the competition to be alternative technologies that use a local storage (on the hand held device), store and forward replication solution, like Sybase's SQL Anywhere for WinCE, for example. Incidentally, our plans call for tighter integration between RDM and eSNAPP so we can offer both types of architectural solutions with one programmer API, that, in time, will be available for all prominent platforms used as hand held and embedded devices. And of course we have many other features planned.
