Kevin, you said >I took more away by what wasn't said - i.e. an inference that WDC had nothing worth buying than anything else.<

Agreed. A long time ago we had rumors IBM might buy WDC
and I said the same thing.

>Tivo and WebTV might have the most promise of driving storage needs. After all, wouldn't you want high quality recordings and maybe have many shows/games stored at a time. Which seems to me that large hard drives and fast data transfer times are going to be required. Maybe even larger hard drives than the ones sold with the average consumer computer.<

They definitely need all the storage they can get, especially if they want to sell a unit to Z.<g>

>Broadband and high speed internet access seems to be going real slow. I know a lot of people still stuck at 56k who are just waiting for DSL or Cable Access that hasn't been rolled out in their area<

That's my favorite gripe. I've been reading about the wonderfulness of broadband for years, but still can't get
cable or DSL here in the heart of Silicon Valley.

I am, belatedly, researching some stocks that should
benefit from broadband. Today Mr Jubak has a column I
think is a good starting point for research...
