Sadly I am not well enough acquainted with why a CDMA supplier would be reluctant to use spectrum for separate data transmission. But even so, I don't see why that would be. Can you elaborate please?

Pardon me for poking in but I wonder about this too. I wish I had a better idea of what available spectrum each of the providers has. Is there enough out there? Wireless for voice is exploding, 1XRTT will be plenty fast for many/most applications, and we recently had a Nortel exec state that many providers are maxed out on their available spectrum. So, wouldn't many providers be less than enthusiastic about making HDR available at 2.4 mps for IJ's suggested $40/month?
