Apparently so, yes.

To the Classic community the sop of an option that makes the go2net site look somewhat but 'not exactly' like real SI. They're missing the point, i wonder if they ever sincerely tried to grasp it. The functionality that they will destroy is more important - for me the loss of Yahoo connected to the bottom right Quote button, the loss of Carlson Online links at the top of every canehjun thread ... there's a thing, maybe you furriners don't know what that is ... well, see here beside 'Related Subjects' the 'Carlson On-line Profile' - Subject 12441

.. click on that and whizbang, a page comes up with the last five releases, the location of the company's previous releases, the company website, and most importantly to me - a direct link to the company's sedars, 'Sedar Downloadable Documents' .. takes about seven seconds from the decision to look to be scanning the raw filings. And from any canehjun stock thread, too, because once you're into Carlson you just put the ticker of any other into the box and click, they've got 'em all. But the go2net site don't have none.

There's much else missing, like 62 PMs in my case, the ability to share portfolios and comparison charts, poor search functions, the diacríticos that don't work [this - ñ - should be an eñe, an n with a little squiggle, one of the twenty-nine letters of the spanish alphabet. And it is - in real SI], several other things i've forgotten since being on the go2net site some time ago. The whole thing is sad, the end of an era. Brad and Jeff understood the community, they built real SI to be useful, in the early traditions of the internet, and they did a superb job of it.

Go2net will give some concession to appearance, they say. Well appearance is important, things like those harsh blue bars filling up half the screen on the go2net site [i just logged into it now, first time for ages] and the cursor flashing away in the quote box which they have for some reason unknown to me placed in the part of the page which loads first [why!] [why should you have to scroll down to begin reading the post!] and the buttons all switched around backwards, the slow loading ... all that affects readability, which is the entire utility of a site to which you come to read text.

'Too flash' they would say in New Zealand. Just compare the same post in real SI and the go2net gag-me-with-a-spoon site. Add that to the loss of functions. Just don't get me started on that favourite of scam stock touts, the ignore button.
