...the Sportcut/Pete Rose Press Conference was pretty cool...:o)

Keeping in mind that I'm pretty green in the real life financial playgrounds, these are some of my observations...

They (7-8 hot babes in Sportcut T-shirts, knotted mid-drift) were passing out bumper stickers, press kits, (pawning Robert's Rules), and generally giving every guy a chubby, in light of the fact that baseball is supposed to take your mind offa that...:o) There were about a dozen sportcut emps, all wearing collared sportcut shirts, including Jordan Schlacter, a presence @ 6'5"(?)(good to meet ya JS, now would ya get David to finish up the site & the sound, please).

Schlacter was at the head table w/Koppleman, Roberts, Rose & Rose's counsel(?). Also present were about 50 people from the Press, TV, Radio, a dozen good size cameras, lotsa, tape recorders, etc. I spoke to peolple from Reuters, NYTimes, Daily News, and 2 local radios. All felt the conference was well run. I was impressed that Roberts has the clout to put something like this together (ok, ok, Rose was a pretty decent draw). He was getting lots of back pats and kudos from all there.

Most of the questions were geared towards Rose, his ban, the upcoming talks on being allowed back into baseball, etc. This was to be expected, considering the overwhelming presence of Press, vice finaincial types. There were, however, a few good plugs for sportcut, its reason for being, and it's wholly WWES owned nature. Roberts made mention that anyone voting through sportcut would be eligible for a place in Shannon Briggs' locker before he goes up against Mike Tyson, allowed to walk him to the ring w/his entourage, and ringside seats. A second voter would be given tickets to a PAcker game, and dinner w/Freeman. Pretty clever little promos. Backstage stuff in a world where you usually don't get access to much besides autographs.

There were three mid-tier, on-line stock profile sites there, taking notes and assessing the potential. I'd say 1 is pretty likely to make WWES their monthly profile in the near future.

For those present, that were looking beyond the press, the presence of Rose, Koppleman, & Roberts together at a table was not lost. There's lotsa potential there, and it's growing. Peter J, was also present, well connected, and confident of the vote in two weeks. Enjoy the snow PJ.

Apologies for the disjointed nature of the report. I'm sure more discrete points will filter out in the coming days.

Bottom line...they got things rolling, finally. Rose was signed well before all the hoopla he's gotten lately, so the promo is clean. Sportcut can ride on his back a bit until Mid-January, by which time they should have things cleaned up, better staffed, and loyally visited. Word out is that by noon, there were 32,000 votes, w/3-4K coming in per hour on the Rose HoF issue; pretty hot.
