Convergent Communications Selects Brian
R. Ervine as Chief Financial Officer

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Convergent Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:
CONV - news), an Enterprise Network Carrier providing single-source business
communications solutions, today named Brian R. Ervine, 38, as chief financial officer.

Since 1995, Ervine has served as CFO of North American Operations and vice president of
finance for the global operations of Metapath Software International (MSI). Headquartered in
London, MSI is a leading global provider of enterprise-wide network software solutions,
including real-time network planning, performance management, and service provisioning
systems.

Ervine managed MSI's worldwide financial operations through a staff of 30 based in nine
countries. His responsibilities included financial planning and analysis, statutory reporting,
controls and tax planning, and treasury and cash management. During his tenure at MSI, the
company grew revenues 170 percent from 1995 to 1999.

``Brian brings us a strong financial background with an understanding of our enterprise services
orientation critical in driving our continued growth as a single-source communications
provider,' said John R. Evans, chairman and chief executive officer of Convergent
Communications. ``His previous experience in the publicly held, high-tech sector will also
benefit us as we expand our visibility in the market.'

As CFO, Ervine will be responsible for Convergent Communications' finance organization,
including financial analysis, planning and budgeting, accounting, reporting, treasury, tax, and
corporate audit.

committed to bringing comprehensive communications solutions to the marketplace,' Ervine

Prior to his tenure at MSI, Ervine was CFO and vice president of PC ServiceSource, Inc. from
1993 to 1995. Revenue at PC ServiceSource, which provides service logistics outsourcing and
support for more than 30 major computer manufacturers and over 20,000 service providers,
grew 185 percent to $69 million during Ervine's tenure. His responsibilities included directing
all corporate finance, financial planning and modeling, and investor relations activities.

From 1991 to 1993, Ervine served as assistant controller for CompuCom Systems, Inc., a
multi-billion dollar network integration company specializing in distributed desktop solutions
for corporate clients.

A 1984 graduate of the University of Texas, where he earned a Bachelor of Business
Administration and Accounting degree, Ervine became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in
1986. From 1984 to 1991 he worked as senior audit manager at KPMG Peat Marwick LLP.
