THREAD--Can we do a review of the dram makers' attitudes towards RDRAM? It seems appropriate in light of this recent back and forth. My impression of the players' attitudes is as follows:

Outright Opponents--
Via Technologies Allies (mostly Taiwan makers)--Low cost producers with relatively less capital. Have driven the thin margins in standard DRAM. Don't want to have to compete on the cutting edge. Although these guys are good, their capital constraints limit their ability to make the changeover.
Micron--Doesn't like the loss of control. (Note: I view Micron as a stealth opponent. They are smart enough to hedge their bets).

Reluctant--
Hitachi and Mitsubishi--Having troubles in their memory operations right now.
Hyundai--Behind Samsung in development. Some money concerns from other Hyundai operations.

Willing--
Samsung--Leading the pack in volume and development, and views RDRAM as way to differentiate themselves further.
Toshiba--Playstation 2 memory maker. Wants to be able to spread their investment.

Have I forgotten some names here? Anyone disagree?

Best,
JS
