Eicon and SSH Communications Security Team to Bring IPSEC to ADSL

DECEMBER 1, 1999
MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA and MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA--Eicon
Technology, a leading provider of remote access products for
telecommuting, Internet and remote LAN access applications, and
SSH Communications Security (SSH), the world-leading developer of
Internet security and advanced cryptography solutions, announced
today that Eicon is licensing the SSH IPSEC Express(TM)Toolkit for
incorporating Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology into
Eicon's product offerings, especially its ADSL product family.
ADSL technology is the next wave in high-speed remote access,
delivering bandwidth as high as 8 Megabits per second over
existing phone lines. VPN is a key technology for the deployment
of many new applications over the Internet, which require security
of confidential information. IPsec ensures that VPN networks are
protected against possible security breaches. By combining ADSL
and IPsec in their products, Eicon is providing their customers
with a solution for secure remote access to corporate resources
over the public network, reducing connectivity costs.
"Security is an important feature of our new ADSL products.
Integrating IPsec into our product lines will ensure that our
customers receive state-of-the art security and VPN connectivity,"
said Ken Gingrich, Eicon's Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales
& Marketing Operations. "As a leading provider of remote access
products, Eicon is committed to developing new technologies to
provide secure digital connectivity options for our customers
around the world."
"Our partnership with Eicon Technology is providing SSH with the
platform to bring strong security to Eicon's broad customer base,"
said George Adams, president and CEO of SSH, Inc. "Security is a
necessity at all levels of communications, and we are pleased to
work with the world leader of ISDN technology to widen the scope
of security usage."
SSH IPSEC Express is a toolkit for implementing IPsec security in
networking products that need strong, cryptographic security.
This Internet protocol is the predominant technology used in VPNs,
and is an IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) standard for
protecting IP traffic using cryptography on the packet level.
SSH's IPsec technology adds scaleable, strong security to IP
networks without limiting its flexibility to enable new types of
business opportunities, such as secure local and global
communications between companies, for e-commerce and for e-banking.
