The companies will use the Solarnet travel system or newswire to distribute their travel products worldwide. "We are extremely pleased with the signing of these companies because the recurring contracts will result in an annual increase of 8.9 per cent to the existing revenue base," said the company's chairman, Frank Wells. "Equally importantly, however, these signings underscore the fact that the travel industry has now recognized the importance of our on-line system which gives travel operators and suppliers total market exposure to every travel agent," added Bob Wilson, director of sales. The new contracts were signed this month with the following companies: Activelifestyle -- a multimedia network headquartered in Thailand, Activelifestyle provides a variety of specialty sports travel packages. Centrav USA -- this leading Midwest air consolidator has a reservation staff of 30 and annual revenues of $15-million. Citibond Travel -- Citibond is one of the largest air consolidators in the United Kingdom and has an international air program, involving 15 airlines. Concorde International Travel -- the South Pacific's largest travel company, Concorde provides a full range of travel services with over $1-billion in annual sales. Globespan Canada and Jetset Canada -- two of Canada's leading air consolidators, both have access to 14 airlines and offer global connections to 73 different countries. Guildfare -- the air consolidator for the Guild of British Travel Agents (GBTA) in the United Kingdom, Guildfare has been in business for more than 30 years. Collectively the GBTA dominates the business market with more than 80 per cent of the share of agents' business air travel bookings. |
