I think that the time when ISPs Ship first, then worry about problems later
may also become a thing of the past.
I think
unfailing dependability of connections
has been. will be , the golden standard of the future.
You can sideline the standard for a little while, when
the technology is new, when you are trying different things.

But not for long. Soon e-commerce will become International,
with very tight margins of profit and fierce competition.
At that point terms like " reliability " and
" dependability " will become the norm again. The edge then
will go to the telco that weave and mash the LAN/WAN seamlessly
with the greatest stability. Only a truly R&D co IMHO will be able to do this:
