Mike,
I am delighted to see you actively posting on the SEG thread. I would urge you to continue to do so, if only an occasional update on "last mile" developments as i agree with the thread, in general, that it is a key to the demand curve for hard disk drives. Gottfried is right about slow progress in terms of the promise versus the deployment. It seems to me that is the way technology often works. The vision of it presents itself much earlier then the reality of it. Then various technologies/companies go into a development cycle and compete for capital. Now with deployment occurring on an accelerated basis the clear challenge is to determine whose technology will dominate. The spending here is enormous and the technologies are fascinating. Like Sam I too am much too ignorant on the subject and would appreciate your continued comments here. There is no question in my mind about the direct correlation to bandwidth and storage demand.
