OK, OK....
I'n in LPTHA @ 9 Their Gradium glass (proprietary technology) is extremely interesting. I couldn't find any other manufacturers of this type of light-bending,very low distortion glass.....only fiber makers. Anyone else know??
They, and the subsidiary LightChip, funded by LPTHA and AT&T Ventures are developing new WDM optical networking systems for high speed, low cost routing of optical fiber signals. Currently available alternatives are slower, costlier and are difficult to install in metropolitan areas.
As was mentioned on this thread before, Robert Ripp recently joined after leaving his CEO position at AMP following the acquisition by Tyco. Also , VP of marketing Bill Emkay, came from Bell Labs/Lucent where he was in charge of global optoelectronics marketing for the video and broadband industry. Sorry to bore the thread during trading hours with this, but I really liked what I found when I did a little digging. The company is based out of Albequerque, a hotbed of brain power, rocket science and very cutting edge technologies. My father has a privately held high tech company there. Los Alamos and Sandia labs(major government labs) are located just outside Albequerque and provide excellent resources (technology, personnel, etc.) for the non-government companies in the region.
