One thing I've been wondering is whether people become more paranoid as they age. It seems that way to me, based on not only my own family, but other people I've known. Not so much paranoid schizophrenia, but more suspicious of other's motives, and more likely to assign hostility as a motive. I know Aristotle thought that people became more selfish as they aged, maybe that's part of it. As one's faculties weaken, one must expend more energy on oneself. I know there are notable exceptions, Albert Schweitzer and Mother Theresa come to mind, I am speaking in generalities here.
