TMM says delivered 1.3 mln interactive sets in US PARIS, Dec 1 (Reuters) - France's Thomson Multimedia said on Wednesday it had produced and shipped 1.3 million colour television sets that incorporate the Gemstar (NasdaqNM:GMST - news) interactive electronic programme guide (EPG). TMM (NYSE:TMS - news), which makes RCA and Proscan television receivers and is a minority shareholder in Gemstar, said in a statement it will have shipped 1.5 million of these sets by the end of January 2000. The Gemstar Guide Plus and EPG allows viewers to jump to programmes listed in on-screen TV guides and record selected shows at the push of a button, or set the TV to turn itself on at a pre-programmed time. ``It is obvious that consumers agree with our strategy that electronic programme guides are an integral part of the television viewing experience,' James Meyer, Thomson senior executive vice president and Americas chief operating officer was quoted as saying. biz.yahoo.com
