hey dg,

go to start, settings, control panel...

double click the sounds icon

scroll down the list of events. the ones that have speaker icons in front of them are the ones that make sounds. <g3>

locate the event you want to have sound and highlight it. in the 'name' window, scroll down for the available sounds and pick one, or browse your hard drive for one. note that when you select a sound, a speaker appears in front of the event. also note the preview option. when you find what you like, click apply at the bottom and OK.
