When did 1 December, 1999 become 10 January, 2000? Actually I won't mind if I am wrong because as the article you posted points out, AMD can bring out the 1 G whenever demand warrants.....translated that means whenever intc gets all "the errati (sp?)" out of its chips.

AMD can instantly jump their clock speed by 33%? Ha ha ha. Bullshit. Anyone who believes that AMD isn't producing a 1-GHz chip because there's no demand for it needs his head examined.

The article I posted did not say that AMD could bring out a 1-GHz chip whenever it wanted. If this is what you honestly believe it said then there's no need for further discussion.

The article said they could probably bring out an 800 MHz chip now. It said the expected roadmap was 1-GHz in the second part of Y2K. Second part, taken to mean second half, would fit the other story which you discounted because it came from Yahoo (actually Associated Press). The only way second part supports your position of a 1-GHz release on January 10 is if you consider Y2K to have 52 parts.
