NEWS...

MYSTIC, CONNECTICUT, DECEMBER 1, 1999 - The Thanksgiving webcast of the 9th annual L.A. Music Awards ( www.lamusicawards.com ) generated more than 188,000 hits to the USA Video Interactive (NASD: USVO; CDNX: US; www.usvo.com ) servers hosting the digitized and Wavelet-compressed show. There were more than 70,000 hits on the day before and the day after the event, when previews and highlights were available. Most of the viewers were in the United States, but there was a large international audience as well, including viewers from Canada, Japan, Germany, Africa, Australia and elsewhere. The awards show was accessible from the websites of USA Video Interactive, L.A.Music Awards, and House of Blues (www.hob.com), whose Hollywood club served as the venue for the live event.

USA Video Interactive had anticipated heavy viewership of the concert based on Internet activity and international interest in the days leading up to the event. As a result, additional servers were deployed, back-up redundant systems were in place, and technicians were on-site throughout the day to ensure smooth operation. Excerpts of the concert are accessible from the USA Video Interactive and L.A.Music Awards websites.

USA Video Interactive is further developing the concept of utilizing its technology to showcase grassroots music and unsigned musicians. The L.A.Music Awards, partially owned by USA Video Interactive, recognizes and honors the grassroots (local and national) music community of emerging unsigned and / or independent record label artists. In addition, established celebrity artists are recognized and honored for specific contributions and accomplishments in the music industry by receiving the Special Achievement Award, Paul Rothchild Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award. Live performances by nominees representing their specific categories and award presentations are intermixed throughout the show, including some of the nationally known artists involved. The award presenters are drawn from all entertainment fields including music, motion pictures, television and radio that contributes to the entire entertainment extravaganza.

About USA Video Interactive: USA Video Interactive is an international designer and supplier of high-tech Video-on-Demand™ systems, services and solutions. The USA Video Interactive technology allows users to view streaming video or to access digitized video libraries, including movies, sports, other entertainment, educational resources, corporate training seminars and other archives. The USA Video Interactive technology gives users full-motion video; the unique flexibility of standard, VCR-like controls of play, fast forward, reverse and pause; and the convenience of a standard internet-browser format for access. USA Video Interactive can utilize MPEG-1, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 compression techniques but prefers its Wavelet compression technology. The USA Video Interactive Wavelet technology allows direct streaming and download and play options; provides video images significantly faster and at a higher degree of resolution than with previously available methods; significantly overcomes bandwidth restrictions; and eliminates the blockiness and slowness of current technologies, all at a lower cost. An essential feature of the USA Video Interactive technology is that it allows extremely high compression ratios while retaining near-broadcast quality.
