Cpn: Well COMPAQ has lost my presumption of innocence. It requires all my charity not to presume its guilt.

The reason the market sells COMPAQ and buys INTC/MSFT when all three caution about future earnings is that COMPAQ may act like a duck, walk like a duck and quack like a duck - but its not a duck, its a pig.

Do you know just how little COMPAQ had earned for shareholders in the last two years from revenues of about $70 billion? It would be interesting to compare and contrast the rate of return on captial of CPQ, INTC and MSFT.

If the focus could be on rate of return and earnings the debate about selling direct or indirect and CPQ v DELL, would become irrelevant.

I hear MC talking about this, I am not convinced yet, but wish him well.
