Hutchison Telecom Australia In CDMA
Roaming Pact

SYDNEY -- Hutchison Telecommunications Australia Ltd. (A.HTA) on
Thursday announced the completion of a CDMA roaming pact with
Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) Limited.

The deal boosts the company's plans for its Orange Code Division Multiple
Access, or CDMA network, the Australian firm said in a statement.

No financial terms were provided.

The company is licensed to use the branding of U.K.-based Orange PLC
(ORNGY). The Orange CDMA service is expected to be available by
June 2000.

"This is Australia's first international CDMA roaming agreement and the
first of several, similar agreement we are seeking with the major CDMA
nations in the region," Barry Roberts-Thomson, managing director at
Hutchison Telecommunications Australia, said.

"Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) already has CDMA
roaming agreements with Japan, Korea, the U.S. and Canada and we are
keen to leverage the introductions they are able to provide to operators in
these key, CDMA markets," he said.

The Hutchison group said last month it had entered a roaming agreement
whereby its customers can use Telstra Corp.'s (TLS) CDMA network in
Sydney and Melbourne.

Hutchison Telecommunications (Australia) and Hutchison
Telecommunications (Hong Kong) are both members of Hutchison
Whampoa Ltd. (H.HUW).
