Bux, Limtex: I found it interesting that Sprint is charging $100 for the Thinphone cable but Airtouch only $30. I assume the cable is the same even though they are for different models of the TP (800Mhz vs. 1900Mhz). If they are the same, I know that you don't currently have to be an Airtouch sub to order the cable from them so Sprint users may be able to save $70.
I called Sprint PCS this afternoon (1 888 211-4727) and found some reasonably helpful customer service regarding Sprint Wireless Web. As to saving $70, PCS said that the Airtouch cable referred to by Bux will not work on the TP2760 or any other PCS phone because the software is different from that employed by Airtouch. When you buy the "Sprint Connectivity Kit" (yes, for about $100), you get the cable, a gender adapter and a CD-rom to download the dial up modem software to your lap-top in order for it to be compatible with the 2760's modem, or whatever other Sprint Wireless Web-enabled handset you have. Whether this is corporate plunder of the neophyte wireless web-using masses or not, I can't say, but it reflects Sprint's official policy on using cables from other carriers. Bux, did Airtouch supply software to enable your laptop to use the Airtouch cable? If not, maybe there is a way around Sprint's policy; but then, maybe Sprint Wireless could not be enabled without downloading the software.
L, the Customer Service folks walked me through the steps for establishing Yahoo as your Wireless Web homepage to use from your Thin Phone. I haven't done it yet because the ditz at the Sprint Store on Friday in fact did not add the data plan to my existing calling plan, so I have to wait 36 hours before wireless web access is enabled through the Sprint PCS system. But the steps sounded straighforward.
