I think StockSmart is screwed up by the fact that Fy 97 has already ended (although the results are not yet available) and "next" year is really this year. I think the true estimates are approx 6 cents for the 4th qtr and 15-16 cents for the year ending 3-31-97. The 24 cents figure is the consensus for the current new fiscal year 1998, ending 3-31-98. Confusing? You bet! I suspect they won't get it straightened out till after 5-13-97 when fy 97 and 4th qtr results are released. I think earnings will be good for the 4th qtr but 14 cents is a bit too high I think. I hope I'm wrong.
Also, I hope to get a report in the next day of so from Jeffrey Holmes, the analyst formerly w/ Principal Equities who came out w/ a nice report and "buy" recommendation last fall. I understand he has just recently issued a new report for his new employer (not sure of which brokerage house) w/ some excellent comments about his earnings expectations for Qdel and their expected rate of growth in the next few years (40% or so, I'm told). I'll post details when I get it.
