Re: Upgrades

The upgrade market is a nice fillip but is irrelevant to MSFT's success. PCs today are a disposable commodity. You don't 'upgrade' your PC. After its useful life (12-36 months depending on how frugal you want to be) you simply toss it and buy a hugely improved model for far less money which naturally comes with the latest flavor of Windows preinstalled. With more than 100 million new PCs shipped every year, MSFT simply has no need for OS upgraders.
