SCM Microsystems Receives First Microsoft Accreditation for its Windows 2000 Supported USB Smart Card Reader Leader in Smart Card Readers Delivers Unique Implementation of New Industry Standard LAS VEGAS, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- SCM Microsystems, Inc., (Nasdaq: SCMM; Neuer Markt: SMY), a leader in enabling simple and secure access to emerging digital platforms and applications, has clinched certification for its USB smart card reader by the PC Smart Card Consortium (PC/SC). The PC/SC compliance consortium
is lead by Microsoft Corp. and aims to extend the Windows(TM) operating system to handle smart card-specific protocols and interfaces. The USB smart card reader, called SCR300, will be demonstrated at the SCM booth in the Microsoft Windows 2000 Pavilion at Comdex 1999.
