FAIR PRICE is the key. We have been thru that before on this thread. USHL - NHL - Hockey is Hockey: When somebody goes to a game, they know the boundaries of the league play - true fans don't expect NHL-style of play at an USHL game (anymore, that is GOOD), and USHL fans wouldn't expect USHL style of play at an NHL game. (and that is sad, because USHL, hell, ANY 'minor' league game - the guys at least TRY...). It's nice when a family of 4 can go to a game here for $30.00 total... i think most USHL fans couldn't name many of the players on the team(s), the league limits them to ages 16-21 (i think it's 21. it might be 22). But at any rate, I'd be hard-pressed to name more than about 4 players from last year's stanley cup champs, and i couldn't tell ya who won the cup 5 years ago.... does it matter anymore ? years ago it meant something, today it just means your owner spent a lot of money...... Oh: the days when a player broke into the league with one team, and retired from the league with the same team.... NEVER in my life did i ever dream Gretzky would not have finished his career in Edmonton. Pocklington F---ed up financially- not Wayne's fault.... Then he went to LA, and McNall F---ed up - again, not Wayne's fault. Then St Louis, then, (arghhhhh) the NYR ? yuck..... I'll step off the soapbox for a bit... |
