Garry,
The only thing I can think of that would prohibit you from daytrading on a cash account would be the settlement period. Some brokers take the fulL 3 days to credit your account with the cash when you sell a stock, thus you show no cash balance to buy another. E-trade is a good example of one that can take from 10 seconds to the full 3 days to credit your account after a sell.
