Wally thanks for that interesting post. After reading it I must again ask the question - why did they sell Alta Vista? There was nothing to stop them linking their hardware with other portals, as well as with Alta Vista, but with Alta Vista they had a gigantic vehicle under their control and a clear head start in the race for internet continuous stream revenues that they have now decided is cnetral to their strategy.
