Wally's post to you re Dell/Intel's chip bug reminded me to tell you .

I've been enjoying a Dell XPS-T550 ordered 10/29 and delivered 5 days later on 11/3/99

P3-550, 13.6G HD, 128M Ram, DVD, CD R/W, 32Meg Video, Sound Blaster Live,V90 Modem and 3 yr in house 24hr warranty for $1723 total to my doorstep (shipped via a B2B & B2C company called ABF).

Trick was to get a refurbished unit!

As an engineer by training, I know that "refurbished" means the first failure has already happened and now you have a "burned-in" box that should be more reliable. Looks brand new to me and works great!

It has worked so well that I have not had to call Dell for any technical assistance at all. I have one software program that won't load right so perhaps I will call... MS Outlook can't find a file. Otherwise, it has been easy to get up running.

Talk about sleeping well at night too! Being able to back-up key files daily is sure great.

justa thought... If you get tired of waiting for a new one, then cancel and get a refurbished model if they have what you want in stock.
