Geez... Fred...

Given that I spent all but the past 8 years of my life OUTSIDE the DC beltway, I think I'm pretty well grounded.

The fact is I grew up in a small town out in the Big Sky portion of the US. I remember the Sagebrush Rebellion against Federally held land. The majority of my classmates were farmers or ranchers. My father was a blue-collar contractor.

I'm pretty well grounded, Fred. I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth.

And there is EVERY manner of pertinence between a Biblical world govt and one created by Man. Certainly, much of the resistance and fear from creating a man-made global government lies in the same apocalyptic predictions of the rising of an Anti-Christ and global conflagration.

Whether or not one believes in Christianity is irrelevant. That fact is that the Bible has created a primal fear of world government in the hearts of everyone exposed to, or living in a Christian culture.

Yet, people have been predicting the apocalyse for many years. The League of Nations was opposed by many Americans because they saw it as a fulfillment of the Anti-Christ parable. The same feeling towards the United Nations is evident today. Yet, the UN has been around for over 40 years and the Anti-Christ has not yet appeared in any evident manner.

World Govt is coming Fred....

It may be 10 years from now... or more likely 50 to 100 years away. But just like the American confederacy of 13 individual and independent colonies failed and led to the penning of a Constitution and Federal Govt, the quasi World Confederacy that the United Nations represents will eventually migrate towards a more Federal system.

From the secular perspective, world govt is necessary because this global disunity is distracting man's progress and movement towards other worlds. For man to progress outward, disputes created by economic and political tensions must be resolved amicably and not militarily.

From a Christian's point of view (and I consider myself a Christian), a secular world govt MUST OCCUR before Christ can return in the wake of its utter failure.

Yes, it does provide a spiritual/intellectual quandary for me.

But since it is inevitable, I'm not so presumptious as to think I can obstruct it. But on the chance that the Apocalypse will not occur in my lifetime (or in subsequent ones), my sole belief is that as world govt is pursued, it is formulated around the same inherent beliefs that founded the United States.

It matters not to me whether I am a US citizen or a World citizen (give to Caesar what is Caesar's....). What really matters more than the label are the principles and rights that constitute the governmental system under which I live. Without basic inalienable (unalterable/inherent) human rights being respected, any form of govt will collapse into tyranny.

As for why this is relevant to Y2K?? Because so much of this doom and gloom posturing going on is completely based upon the fears that people have about world govt and the rise of the Anti-christ.

But folks... if you have the conviction of your religious beliefs, none of this really matters. You have a better place to look forward to spending eternity anyway. Everything else is just a step towards reaching the goal.

Regards,

Ron
