Then, with the advent of Y2K and the fizzer it is sure to be, there will be $300bn or so which will not continue to be spent on fixing the Y2K bug and all that enormous puter expertise will move to actually productive effort.

Do you mean like figuring out how to best milk the trap doors that were installed during the Y2K "fixes?"
